Ashland University Technology Enhanced Classroom Configurations
In an effort to better manage classroom technology, the ITS group within Information Technology is assigning Configurations to current and future classroom technology. This is being done to further develop the technology operating budget process, and also help define the expectations of technology to the faculty when it comes to the learning environment in which they teach. Every main campus classroom with technology will be evaluated on a 6 year life cycle and usability study of existing technology. Classroom PCs will be evaluated on a 4 year life cycle.
The different levels will be also used to assist in the scheduling of classes. IE: If an instructor requires a particular Configuration of technology, he or she will be able to request this when scheduling a classroom. There are a total of 5 levels. Most classrooms on campus will fall into Configuration 1, 2 and 3. Configuration 1 is no longer being used; however we have many rooms of this nature on the campus. Please bear in mind these Configurations are set to be minimums and individual classrooms may have additional hardware. Assigned budget dollars is/are approximate and covers equipment costs and necessary programming only. It does not cover infrastructure upgrades, electric, building construction, asbestos abatement, or furniture.
This in NO WAY assumes ownership or is intended to change any policies that currently govern the way scheduling of the classrooms is managed for academic purposes. It is simply being put in place to assist in the management, budgeting and support of classroom technology at Ashland University.
