Online Learning

ITS will assist faculty in partnership arrangement when it comes to online learning. ITS sees its role as assisting with the technology – WebCT and web development and with instructional tactics – instructional design.

The ITSis a group of full-time instructional designers on staff who can help you as you design your course. Instructors are encouraged to start early because the course development process can be lengthy if you decide to deliver an elaborate online course.

WebCT
Ashland University uses the course management tool, WebCT. WebCT is web-based software that allows instructors to place courses online using an icon driven interface. It also allows for assessments, online discussion, mail and chat, along with offering a gradebook.

Currently, it is the policy at Ashland , to place a course fully online, instructor’s must attend 12 hours of face-to-face training offered by the Office of Information Technology.
