ASHLAND
Policies

Due to the limited staff of the ITS, we cannot be everything for everyone. In some areas, we can be full service, but we are unable to provide in-depth production support to develop materials, courses or other projects. Our model is based on empowering faculty and staff through training to provide skills that increase knowledge and outcomes.

WebCT Courses

Faculty need to contact ITS personnel (skaufman@ashland.edu) well in advance to have a course set-up. To place portions of a course online, faculty are encouraged to arrange for a minimum of 2 hours training depending on their proficiency. To place a course more than 70% online, faculty are required to have 6 hours of WebCT training.

Training

ITS manages the Educational Technology Center which is available for faculty and staff to reserve to use the computers in the facility and for training sessions.

Video Production, Multimedia and Web Development

ITS can offer some assistance in the areas of video production, multimedia and web development. T.E.C.S. students can assist in concept development and offer to develop templates for development

AV Equipment

Faculty are encouraged to contact ITS if they have questions regarding classroom AV technology. ITS staff can work with staff if they want to familiarize themselves with AV equipment prior to “live” teaching. It is University policy that all classroom technology must be purchased through the I.T. department.

Video Conferencing

ITS supports live, multi-site videoconferencing. Connecting with videoconferencing facilities with the university network require reserving the facilities (origination and remote sites). . If you are connect within an off-campus site, it is strongly recommended that arrangements be made well in advance to ensure that facilities are compatible and that test calls can be made.
